چکیده

Flashing flows of initially sub-cooled water in a converging–diverging nozzle is investigated numerically the framework two-fluid model (TFM). The thermal non-equilibrium effect phase change considered by an interfacial heat transfer model, while pressure jump across interface ignored. bubble size distribution induced nucleation, growth/shrinkage, coalescence, and breakup described based on area transport equation (IATE) constant number density (CBND), respectively. results are compared with experimental data. Satisfactory prediction axial along as well flashing inception, achieved TFM-IATE coupling method. It was also found that vapor production diverging section overpredicted, radial gas volume fraction deviated from experiment. diameter profiles exhibit opposite patterns at throat near outlet, similar trends can be observed for superheated degree. A poly-disperse method suggested to introduced describe evolution concentration.

Numerical simulation of turbulent compressible flows in a C-D nozzle with different divergence angles

Compressible gas flow inside a convergent-divergent nozzle and its exhaust plume atdifferent nozzle pressure ratios (NPR) have been numerically studied with severalturbulence models. The numerical results reveal that, the SST k–ω model give the bestresults compared with other models in time and accuracy. The effect of changes in value ofdivergence half-angle (ε ) on the nozzle performance, thru...

A Numerical Investigation of Unsteady Bubbly Cavitating Nozzle Flows

The effects of unsteady bubble dynamics on cavitating flow through a converging-diverging nozzle are investigated numerically. A continuum model that couples the Rayleigh–Plesset equation with the continuity and momentum equations is used to formulate unsteady, quasi-one-dimensional partial differential equations. Flow regimes studied include those where steady-state solutions exist, and those ...

A Characteristic Analysis of One-Dimensional Two-Fluid Model with Interfacial Area Transport Equation

An interfacial area transport equation IATE , proposed to dynamically describe the interfacial structure evolution of two-phase flows, could help improve the predictive capability of the twofluid model. The present study aims to investigate the well-posedness issue of a one-dimensional two-fluid model with the IATE named “two-fluid-IATE model” hereafter using a characteristic analysis. The mome...
